The wave and tidal energy sector were in Aviemore en masse this week for Ocean Energy Europe’s conference.
A star attraction at the event was the Orbital Marine Power SR2000 tidal turbine blade which provided an overview of Orbital’s blade innovations as part of the EU-funded MaxBlade project.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our industry colleagues, discuss progress and next steps developing the sector and building out to arrays, and reinforce the importance of teamworking and collaboration in driving the clean energy transition. A special thanks to Dr Alasdair Allan, Scottish Minister for Climate Action for popping past the stand for a catch up.
Following the conference, EMEC and Orbital hosted a side event, taking delegates on a boat trip to EMEC’s tidal test site to see the Orbital Marine Power Ltd O2 operating on site and providing an onshore tour of EMEC’s tidal energy substation, green hydrogen R&D facilities and vanadium flow batteries.
